There are quite a few different types on the market and you can try out all the ones we stock in any of our local showrooms. Here are some of the different types along with what features and benefits each one has. These are available in sizes ranging from 2ft 3 inches through to 5ft in length. Our maximum length for the optional massage units is 4ft.

Pocket Sprung Mattress

Each spring is individually pocketed and is made from 1.8mm gauge steel. Encased in double pockets each spring is held together by metal clips to provide longevity, sturdy support and comfort. A kashmir wool outer layer lays on top of the double pockets – which are made from thick layers of compressed wool. The whole is encased in a fine quality woven damask fabric and is a medium firm mattress. Visit one of the showrooms to see and feel the quality on these.

Reflex Foam Mattress

Reflex Foam is made by Vitafoam and is non-fibrous and fully hypo-allergenic. This material is made by putting lots of small bubbles into the foam, and these bubbles will squash down under your weight and will then “re-flex” back to their former shape after you have laid down on it. This foam is medically approved and will keep it’s shape for a long time, with little change over long periods of heavy usage. This foam is moisture resistant so should not deteriorate if the user has night time needs.

Latex Mattress

Our latex mattresses are also made by vitafoam using 99.9% pure latex, which is harvested from the natural rubber tree. This organic product is one of the best mattresses for back care support and gives a very soft mattress that also naturally discourages house dust mites. These mites can reproduce in their millions inside a normal mattress so by reducing their colonies by choosing this type of mattress you will also help to reduce allergic responses like breathing difficulties or asthma. Because of it’s softness it isn’t recommended for those over 14 stone or who have significant mobility restrictions as you can tend to sink into the material, which makes it difficult to get out of the bed.

Reflex/Latex Sandwich

electric beds stoke on trentThis mattress aims to combine the best elements of the two mattresses above and has a five inch reflex core covered over with a 1 inch layer of latex. This option has a firmer feel than the pure latex model, because of the addition of the reflex centre, and makes turning the mattress and moving about in bed easier.

Orthopedic Mattresses

This type consists of a reflex foam core (that can be specified to suit the users weight) overlaid with a memory foam topping which supports the body evenly across its contours. An ideal choice for those seeking to prevent pressure-related problems.

What about massage options?

This mattress can be combined with the massage unit add-on so as to encourage and maintain circulation for those who spend a lot of time in bed. These units must be specified at time of order as they are built into the actual mattress itself and then covered with foam. Featuring five low voltage pads, they are set along the middle line of the bed and are operated with a separate handset so as to produce a wave, pulse or gentle vibration to relax yet stimulate.  We also stock massage chairs which are designed along the same lines as the beds. Why not watch the video below which features one of our customers talking about her experience with her massage chair.
